Measuring approximately 1,199 ft in length and boasting a gross tonnage of 250,800 GT, Legend of the Seas is designed to accommodate up to 7,600 guests in 2,805 cabins, the vast majority of which feature private balconies. The ship stands out for its exceptional amenities, such as the Royal Bay Pool—one of the largest pools at sea—and the Category 6 Waterpark, one of the most expansive water parks afloat. Legend of the Seas is divided into eight themed neighborhoods, each offering its own unique atmosphere and tailored experiences. The family-oriented Surfside district features the Splashaway Bay water park, while The Hideaway—the adults-only area—houses one of the first suspended infinity pools at sea. The Royal Promenade, redesigned to provide unobstructed ocean views, brings together more than 15 dining and relaxation venues complemented by amenities such as an ice rink and state-of-the-art surfing simulators.
Legend of the Seas incorporates advanced technologies designed to minimize its environmental impact. Among these features are a shore power connection and waste heat recovery systems. Its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) propulsion reduces CO₂ emissions by 30% and virtually eliminates sulfur emissions. Furthermore, a microwave-assisted pyrolysis system converts waste into energy, while a combined desalination and reverse osmosis installation produces 93% of the fresh water consumed onboard. These innovations underscore Royal Caribbean’s commitment to sustainable solutions, with the goal of designing a net-zero emission ship by 2035.
Legend of the Seas offers a diverse range of accommodations. The interior cabins, which range in size from approximately 156 to 187 sq. ft, provide optimal comfort in a compact space, featuring standard amenities such as a hairdryer, vanity, and television, and can accommodate up to four guests. Ocean-view and balcony cabins are also available, offering scenic vistas of the sea; their sizes range from about 160 to 258 sq. ft for ocean-view cabins and from 204 to 285 sq. ft for balcony cabins.
The suites, on the other hand, range in size from roughly 269 to 1,482 sq. ft and provide upscale amenities, with balconies that can be as large as 705 sq. ft. These accommodations, which can host up to eight guests depending on their configuration, include bathrooms outfitted with a bathtub, hairdryer, vanity, and television. Some suites feature unique layouts—such as duplex designs or the integration of exclusive entertainment and relaxation areas. For example, the Ultimate Family Townhouse spans three decks and includes distinctive features like an indoor slide and a private cinema. Similarly, the Royal Loft Suite and Icon Loft Suite are arranged over two levels, offering spacious living areas and panoramic views.
The leisure options onboard Legend of the Seas are designed with the entire family in mind, offering a wide variety of entertainment experiences. The Thrill Island district is home to several high-adrenaline attractions, including a water park with six slides—among them Pressure Drop, one of the first free-fall slides at sea—as well as Hurricane Hunter and Storm Chasers, providing thrilling aquatic adventures. Crown’s Edge combines a suspended walkway, an obstacle course, and a zip line to deliver an exhilarating experience high above the ocean. In addition, the ship features a themed mini-golf course and a cutting-edge surfing simulator.
Legend of the Seas boasts seven pools, including the Royal Bay Pool in the Chill Island area. With a length of about 92 ft and featuring elevated hot tubs, it ranks among the largest pools at sea, offering a unique relaxation experience complete with submerged loungers. On the entertainment front, the AquaTheater Show features impressive aquatic performances, while the Royal Theatre hosts captivating musical productions inspired by Broadway. Ice shows, a variety of concerts at the Music Hall, and the Casino Royale further enhance the onboard entertainment lineup. For sports enthusiasts, the ship offers two state-of-the-art fitness centers, an outdoor jogging track, and a multi-sport court.
Legend of the Seas provides specially designed spaces and professionally led clubs for guests of all ages. Organized by age group, the Adventure Ocean clubs welcome infants as young as 6 months through 36 months in the Adventure Ocean Babies area, while the Adventure Ocean Junior club caters to children up to 12 years old. These programs offer a wide range of activities—from interactive games and scientific and artistic workshops to theatrical performances, reading sessions, and sports competitions.
Entertainment for children and young teens abounds, highlighted by the vibrant Splashaway Bay water park in the Surfside district. This colorful area features water slides, water cannons, pools, hot tubs, fountains, and even a giant tipping bucket, all complemented by a multi-level playground that guarantees hours of fun. For teenagers aged 13 to 17, the Social 020 club is the perfect place to relax, play video games, listen to music, watch movies, and socialize in a friendly environment. They also appreciate the arcade in the family-focused Surfside area, which blends modern and retro games.
Aboard Legend of the Seas, the atmosphere is lively and dynamic. The Pearl Café, open around the clock, is part of a collection of more than 20 venues available onboard. In addition, around fifteen bars and lounges contribute to the warm, convivial vibe by offering a varied selection of cocktails in inviting settings, often enhanced by live music performances.
Among the main restaurants included in the full-board package are Windjammer Marketplace and Coastal Kitchen, which offer a range of international dishes with plenty of healthy options. In the family-oriented Surfside district, Surfside Eatery serves a buffet suitable for all ages, while Surfside Bites offers quick snacks such as burgers and churros. Legend of the Seas also features several specialty restaurants available for an additional charge. Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen serves authentic Italian fare, while Izumi Hibachi & Sushi delights fans of Japanese cuisine. Chops Grille stands out with its exceptional steaks, and Hooked Seafood specializes in fresh seafood. In Surfside, Pier 7 provides a relaxed dining experience with offerings like surf-and-turf tacos, smoked salmon Benedict, and an array of shareable dishes.
The ship is also home to more than 15 bars and lounges, each with its own unique ambiance and live entertainment. The Schooner Bar immerses guests in a maritime atmosphere with live piano, while Lou’s Jazz 'n Blues—located in Central Park—appeals to aficionados of jazz and soul. Dueling Pianos on the Royal Promenade stage dynamic musical duels, and Boleros adds a Latin flair with its cocktails and dancing. Sports enthusiasts can head to the Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, while Trellis Bar serves outdoor cocktails in Central Park. Spanning three decks, Lime and Coconut offers a tropical vibe with ocean views, and Lemon Post in Surfside is ideal for families with its refreshing beverages. Additionally, a Starbucks is available onboard for coffee lovers.
Royal Caribbean offers Mediterranean cruises aboard Legend of the Seas that combine historical heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and idyllic beaches. Cruises departing from Barcelona allow guests to explore Gaudí’s iconic architecture—including the Sagrada Família and Park Güell—while also enjoying the sun-drenched beaches of the Balearic Islands, crystal-clear waters, hidden coves, and the lively ambiance of charming coastal towns. Cruises departing from Rome (Civitavecchia) include stops at must-see destinations such as Naples, offering the chance to visit Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, as well as La Spezia, the perfect gateway to the picturesque villages of the Cinque Terre.
Royal Caribbean also features a wide range of Caribbean cruises aboard Legend of the Seas. These cruises departing from Miami typically include a day-long stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay—the company’s private island in the Bahamas—for a day full of entertainment. At CocoCay, cruisers can choose between an action-packed day at the Thrill Waterpark, with its exhilarating slides and expansive wave pool, or a relaxing day on Chill Island, where tranquil beaches, private cabanas, and the Coco Beach Club—with its infinity pool and gourmet restaurant—invite pure relaxation.
Equipped with spectacular amenities, Legend of the Seas offers an extraordinary cruising experience thanks to a host of captivating attractions such as the Category 6 Waterpark with its six impressive slides, the expansive Royal Bay Pool, and even one of the first suspended infinity pools at sea in The Hideaway district. The onboard atmosphere is enlivened by live concerts and a diverse culinary selection featuring restaurants like Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen, Hooked Seafood, and El Loco Fresh—which reimagines Mexican flavors. Younger guests can have a blast at Splashaway Bay, a water area designed just for them, while thrill-seekers can experience the heart-pounding excitement of Crown’s Edge. The ship also boasts Absolute Zero, one of the largest ice rinks at sea, along with the AquaTheater, where breathtaking aquatic shows captivate audiences.
Legend of the Seas was constructed at the Meyer Turku shipyards in Finland.
