Aqua Mekong
Designed by Saigon-based Studio Noor, Aqua Mekong draws inspiration from contemporary Asian architecture, harmoniously blending clean design and local traditions. The ship measures 62 meters in length and accommodates up to 40 guests in 20 suites of 30 m², all outward-facing with floor-to-ceiling windows. Eight suites also feature a private balcony with a daybed. Wood, stone, linen, and artisanal objects from Cambodia and Vietnam give the décor both simplicity and authenticity. The interior design emphasizes brightness, understated elegance, and quality materials to create a calming atmosphere.
Thanks to its small size and shallow draft, the ship can access remote areas and offers breathtaking views of the Mekong’s banks, flooded forests, floating villages, and ever-changing agricultural landscapes. Aqua Mekong features spacious and welcoming common areas spread across multiple decks: an infinity pool overlooking the river, rooftop lounge, fitness center, yoga space, screening room, library, spa, and a boutique showcasing local designers. With a 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio, the ship guarantees attentive, discreet, and professional service throughout the journey.
Each day includes two excursions in small groups of up to ten guests, led by a team of local Mekong experts. Aboard motorized skiffs, kayaks, or bicycles, guests discover the river’s many faces: stilt villages, floating markets, ancient pagodas, rice paddies, Khmer temples, flooded forests, and bird sanctuaries such as Prek Toal. Itineraries are adjusted to water levels depending on the season, offering stunning views of the Mekong amid unspoiled rural landscapes, lush nature, and everyday life on the riverbanks. Visits to local markets provide a sensory dive into regional flavors, with stalls full of dried fish, tropical fruits, spices, fresh herbs, and traditional sweets. This small-group approach encourages authentic connections with locals, while respecting their culture and environment.
The cuisine is overseen by acclaimed Australian chef David Thompson, renowned for his mastery of Thai, Vietnamese, and Cambodian gastronomy. On board, the menus highlight local ingredients: freshwater fish, aromatic herbs, delta-grown vegetables, fragrant rice, tropical fruits… Dishes are inspired by traditional recipes, reinterpreted with a contemporary twist. Meals are served in a glass-enclosed restaurant with panoramic views of the Mekong, with an outdoor dining option. A lounge bar completes the culinary experience, offering a selection of signature cocktails and carefully curated wines.
Aqua Mekong incorporates sustainability principles at every level of its operations. The ship was built using sustainable materials and is operated with responsible practices: waste reduction, recycling, low-impact excursions, water and energy conservation, and partnerships with local producers and artisans. Aqua Expeditions also supports regional initiatives focused on cultural and environmental preservation. By avoiding overcrowded ports and selecting stopovers accessible only to small ships, Aqua Mekong helps protect the river’s natural balance and ensures a more authentic experience for its guests.
