Introduced in 1999, the MS EUROPA has a gross tonnage of around 28,890 GT and measures 652 feet in length and 79 feet in width. Built at the Kvaerner Masa-Yards shipyard (Hietalahti), in , she is positioned in the classic luxury segment, with spaces designed for smooth circulation on board and a very yacht-like atmosphere on the scale of a small ship. Her size (much more compact than today’s large contemporary cruise ships) also allows her, depending on the itinerary, to favor ports of call that are less accessible to very large ocean liners.
On board, the culinary experience is a cornerstone of the MS EUROPA’s positioning: the line highlights 5 included restaurants, with an organization centered on freedom (choice of seating, schedules designed to avoid constraints, and a dress code ranging from casual to elegant depending on your mood). Among the standout venues is THE GLOBE, associated with chef Kevin Fehling.
The MS EUROPA features 204 suites with guest capacity limited to about 400 passengers. The suites are mostly ocean-facing (ocean view throughout), and some of them include a veranda/balcony depending on category. In terms of size, entry-level categories start at around 291 sq. ft. (order of magnitude), then move up to more spacious layouts (clearer separation between living and sleeping areas, more generous volumes, and upgraded features depending on the suite). Altogether, the goal is a “grand hotel” level of comfort at sea, with highly attentive service and an atmosphere known for being especially calm.
The ship offers a wellness area (Ocean Spa) and facilities geared toward relaxation and fitness, in a discreet luxury spirit. The company also highlights an “EUROPA Refresh” concept (a holistic approach to well-being on board, depending on the cruise). The overall atmosphere remains very hushed, in keeping with the ship’s size and the choice of a limited guest capacity.
The MS EUROPA operates a variety of itineraries depending on the season, with a high-end travel approach aboard a mid-size ship: a more relaxed pace, a more intimate onboard experience, and a highly personalized level of service. The format (around 400 passengers) promotes space and day-to-day tranquility.
Among the signature destinations are Northern Europe cruises (fjords and Scandinavian coasts), Mediterranean cruises (western or eastern), as well as Caribbean cruises.
