Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is bisected by the Vltava River, which rises in the Bohemian Forest. The Vltava quays are a great way to appreciate Prague's charm. A stroll along the Rašín quays, between the Palackého and Železniční bridges, allows you to enjoy views of Prague Castle or attend various cultural events. The Hořejší quays overlook the historic site of Vyšehrad, overlooking Prague. Throughout the year, cultural and social events enliven these quays bordering the popular Smíchov district. The Náplavka market, located on the eponymous quay, is a popular spot for Prague locals and tourists alike, with its relaxed and unique atmosphere. The city is also renowned for its State Opera and major classical music festivals, such as the Prague Spring Festival, where the most talented artists perform in a variety of cultural venues.

Prague boasts a great diversity of architecture, from Baroque to Art Nouveau. The best examples can be found along the main thoroughfares of Národni and Na Přikopě streets. The vast Wenceslas Square, home to the huge National Museum and Prague Opera House, is well worth a detour. Then take the Art Deco-style Lucerna Passage to contemplate its unusual hanging equestrian statue. Adjacent is the Mucha Museum, dedicated to Alfons Mucha, one of the masters of Art Nouveau. Then enter Staré Město to see the Municipal House. This houses a collection of Art Nouveau facades, stained-glass windows, furniture and ceramics. Then descend to the basement to admire an exhibition of Czech antiques. Prague is also famous for its Prague Castle. Here you'll discover the "Golden Alley", also known as the "Goldsmiths' Alley". It's a narrow alley with elegant, colorful facades and small houses backing onto Prague Castle. While you're there, take the opportunity to meet the craftsmen or visit the little houses. St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest church in the Czech Republic, also stands here.
