Learn more about your Falkland Islands cruise

What to see in the Falkland Islands? When traveling in these southern islands, you will have the opportunity to see hundreds of bird species. Whether on earth or near the ribs, you will see petrels, hawks, herons or even cormorants. In the ocean, dolphins coexist with some species of seals, and porpoises rub shoulders with orcas or even whales. On the island of Sea Lion or Lion de Mer, you will discover the wild fauna of the Falklands Islands. Inhabited especially by animals, the steeply cut ribs constitute isolated coves and desert beaches. In the middle of the land, you can explore the moors and the green meadows it occupies. For your walks, lakes and ponds sow the landscape to the delight of hikers. With more than 700 islets, including two main islands including East Falkland and West Falkland, your trip promises to be enriching. The great Falkland or Western Falkland is the second largest island. Sheep farming is the main activity. Conversely, the eastern Malouine, the most important, is the island where the two aerodromes of the Malouine Islands and the capital Port Stanley is located. Almost 2/3 of the population lives there and this is the starting point for many expeditions to the neighboring islands and even to Antarctica. History and culture get involved to constitute a lively place where it is good to live there. The monument you will have to see above all is the Anglican and Christian cathedral Christ Church. You can also admire the Whale Bone Arche, a portico made from the bones of the blue whale jaw. Do not forget to go to the Britania House, the local museum which especially relates the way of life of the first settlers. Finally, if you want to taste English gastronomy, this is the perfect country. The fish are signed there near the tasting location and are cooked in a net or grilled. The dishes are based on seafood (scallops, oysters and crabs) and prepared meat is mainly sheep and beef. The ideal climate to explore its ribs The climate of the Malouine islands is cold sea. Very similar to that of England, winter is cold and snowy while summer is very fresh and windy. Temperatures oscillate between 22 ° C in summer and 5 ° C in winter. The best moment to explore this nature paradise will be the period December to February. The climate is good despite some precipitation and the wind. In winter, from June to August, therefore favor warm clothes, down jackets, umbrellas and scarves. In summer, from December to February, it is recommended to bring a raincoat, a small jacket, a knitting and a shirt. It should be noted that to make the most of the climate, many restaurants are present in Port Stanley. You will have the opportunity to taste the best of English cuisine. In tea salons, you can order the "smoko" with small cookies or cakes. You will even have the ability to taste the "Diddle Dee Berry" jam.
