Tonga: a trip to the heart of the Pacific Tonga is an island located in the middle of the South Pacific and west of the date change line. It is bordered to the west by the Fiji at 700 km, to the north by the Samoa at 800 km and finally in the East per Niue at 450 km. The kingdom of Tonga has 176 islands, only 53 of which are populated, on a terrestrial surface of 740 km2. What to see on a trip to the Tonga? Your first stop will undoubtedly be Tongatapu because this is where the only airport on the island is located.
