The surrounding waters, which are partially ice-free in winter, attract a variety of marine wildlife, including seals and narwhals. Remains of hunting sites bear witness to past human occupation.     Antarctica Havn is a bay in northeast Greenland, within the Northeast Greenland National Park. It is surrounded by steep mountains, including the Pictet Range to the west and Mount Karlsbak to the southeast. The bay was first explored in 1899 by the Swedish expedition of Nathorst, who named it after his ship, the Antarctic. A former Norwegian hunting station, Karlsbak Station, was established there in 1930 and served as a meteorological base and radio station until 1959. Today, cruisers can see the remains of the station and a memorial to explorer Helge Ingstad.

Established in 1922 by the Norwegian fisherman Johan A. Olsen, the station served as a base for hunting, meteorology and radio. In 1931 it was the scene of Norway's annexation of the area known as Eirik Raude's Land, a sovereignty claim that ended in 1933. Today, although the station is abandoned, visitors can explore the remnants of that era and enjoy the surrounding Arctic landscape. The local wildlife includes musk oxen and various bird species, offering unique viewing opportunities.
